Waldom Electronics Bike Donation Supports Local Families

Waldom Electronics bike donation efforts were on full display this week as United Way of Rock River Valley helped coordinate the delivery of children’s bicycles to Youth Services Network in Rockford.

At United Way of Rock River Valley, partnerships are at the heart of everything we do — and today’s bike donation is a perfect example of what’s possible when our community comes together.

On Tuesday, January 20, Waldom Electronics donated a collection of children’s bicycles to Youth Services Network (YSN), helping bring joy, confidence, and new opportunities for play to local children and families. The bikes were delivered during a special event at United Way’s Irving Avenue Strong Neighborhood House, where partners gathered to celebrate the impact of this generous gift.

The donation includes bicycles sized for children from toddlers through approximately 10 years old. Youth Services Network will distribute the bikes to families they serve throughout the Rockford area.

Over the holiday season, employees at Waldom Electronics volunteered their time to assemble each bike, turning a generous idea into a hands-on effort to support children in our community.

“Partnerships like this demonstrate how businesses and nonprofits can come together to make a meaningful impact for children in our community,” said Julie Bosma, President & CEO of United Way Rock River Valley. “By connecting Waldom with Youth Services Network, we’re helping ensure these donations reach families who need them most.”

Supporting Local Children Through Community Partnerships

Youth Services Network, a state-licensed Child Welfare Agency serving the Rockford area since 1982, provides trauma-informed, strength-based services that support the physical, developmental, psychological, and social well-being of children, young adults, and families.

“This donation is about more than bicycles — it’s about giving children opportunities for play, independence, and confidence,” said Sara Tusler of Youth Services Network. “We’re grateful to Waldom Electronics and United Way for helping make this possible.”

United Way Rock River Valley is proud to help connect community partners in ways that strengthen families, support children, and build stronger neighborhoods across Winnebago County.
