During the month of December, Rockford Casino – A Hard Rock Opening Act donated non-cashed out guest vouchers totaling $2,000 to United Way of Rock River Valley. Guests were able to donate the vouchers to a United Way donation box in the casino.
“We are so grateful to Rockford Casino for choosing United Way as the recipient of these donations during the month of December,” said Julie Bosma, President and CEO of United Way of Rock River Valley. “We are working to increase our literacy rate in Winnebago County and putting books in the hands of children is the first step.”
Local organizations are working together to address our declining literacy rate that took such a big hit during COVID. United Way is convening these twenty-five local agencies and school districts to support their efforts and together connect services in a collaborative approach. Donations from the casino will help further that cause.
