Greenlee Textron interns help beautify Ellis Heights neighborhood

Posted on

Nearly 30 interns from Greenlee / A Textron Company worked alongside Ellis Heights residents and organizations today to help clear debris and beautify the neighborhood. The clean-up efforts are part of Project 1013, a partnership between West Gateway Coalition and Rock Church, which advances the beautification of the Ellis Heights neighborhood.

United Way of Rock River Valley connected Greenlee interns with Project 1013 through its Volunteer Center and is a direct response to needs discovered in United Way's Strong Neighborhoods initiative. Poor neighborhood structures, litter and lack of yard maintenance are stumbling blocks to the neighborhood's cleanliness and quality of life.

This is the fourth consecutive summer Greenlee Textron organized a group project for its internship program through United Way's Volunteer Center. In addition to supporting the community through United Way's annual workplace campaign, Greenlee is an active participant in United Way's Day of Caring service projects, held in the fall.
