United Way 211 is working directly with disaster management agencies in Central Illinois after yesterday's severe weather devastated communities in and around Washington, Ill. Agencies are working to stabilize conditions in order to proceed with recovery efforts. Therefore, officials urge individuals to wait until a need is requested before sending volunteers to areas affected by the severe weather.

The American Red Cross Central Illinois Chapter has set up shelters in area’s affected by the severe weather and is working with community partners to help assist those in need. At the moment, financial donations are the best way to help those who have been affected. You may call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit American Red Cross Central Illinois Chapter to make a donation.
