I just heard an interesting segment on NPR on my way back from lunch. The reporter was talking to a few folks on the best way to donate to the ginormous relief efforts needed in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. They said you can make sure your donation gets where you want it to by taking the time to check Charity Navigator, Guidestar, etc.

I'm one for simplicity so I will make this recommendation:  Give to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund.

Give a little. Give a lot. Just Give.

Why give through United Way? Because United Way is connected to hundreds of human service agencies in the affected areas and will make sure that 100 PERCENT of individual donations make it to the people who need it most when they need it most.

Locally you can call 2-1-1 and they can give you additional information on how to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

One more thing - include the people in Houston in your thoughts or in your bedtime prayers. Send some good karma down there. And smile at your neighbor and be thankful for what you have.
