For over a year, United Way of Rock River Valley has been putting free children's books on the shelves of local barbershops. The Books in the Barbershop program is part of United Way's Strong Neighborhoods initiative to direct resources into the regions most underserved neighborhoods. Children read books in the sitting area and while getting haircuts. Children are then encouraged to take home a book.

For more information on how to expand the program into your business, contact Grant Schubert, neighborhood impact manager, by calling 815-621-7765. To support the program with a donation, click on the donation button
