I READ Early-Grade Reading Initiative

I READ is an early-grade reading initiative that pairs reading mentors with kindergarten students and prepares students to read proficiently by fourth grade. Reading mentors meet with students weekly during the school day until they complete the third grade. This initiative is a partnership between United Way of Rock River Valley, Rockford School District 205 and Harlem School District 122.

Anyone with passion and commitment can help a young person achieve greater academic success. Volunteers can make a difference. Join with volunteers in the community, and show the power of Living United.
